Water Wells in Memory of Our July 15 Martyrs

They Sacrificed Their Lives for the Homeland...

On July 15, 2016, the coup attempt carried out by FETÖ, the greatest betrayal in our recent history, directly targeted our national sovereignty and independence.

They aimed to disrupt our national unity, undermine our voluntary organizations that safeguard our future, shake public trust, and, in vain, distort the true understanding of Islam and our tradition of wisdom.

This coup attempt against the elected will and national sovereignty was prevented through the tremendous efforts of our nation, avoiding economic and political instability. During the aftermath, a large portion of society quickly recognized the threat to our homeland and united in solidarity.

As Beşir Association, like many other NGOs, we fulfilled our responsibilities. During the hours when our President called the public to the streets, we gathered in the squares as Beşir teams. During the continued national will vigils across Turkey, we served citizens at 203 locations and participated in the vigils. We continued filling the squares, saying “We Are in the National Will Vigil Now and Always.”

Additionally, we initiated a monthly financial aid campaign for the families of July 15 martyrs. On the anniversaries of this historic event, we returned to the squares, continued the vigils, and delivered aid. During the intervening period, we published special visual, audio, and timed content to keep the memory of July 15 alive across all platforms.

What is the Purpose of the Water Well Project?

This project aims to commemorate the July 15 epic by constructing lasting works in different regions and creating charitable endowments (sadaqa jariya) in memory of each martyr, serving oppressed regions around the world.

Through water wells we will open in oppressed regions such as Chad, Cameroon, Somalia, Sudan, Nigeria, Tanzania, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Arakan, we aim to provide relief to those in need. Each of the 250 wells will be named after a July 15 martyr, turning them into enduring acts of charity. In this way, we intend to keep the memory of July 15 alive in the hearts of people across different geographies.

Donations for water wells will be carried out according to a planned schedule in regions that need them. The process of constructing wells may vary depending on the economic, sociological, physical, and political conditions of the area. This process is expected to be completed within 8 months at the latest.

You can donate even 1 TL to a well to be opened in memory of our July 15 martyrs, or you may cover the full cost of a well (USD 3,000) in the name of a martyr.

The water well donation process will follow a planned schedule in the regions where it is needed. Construction may vary depending on local conditions and will be completed within 8 months at the latest.
